Start and Stop on a Dime Torque, Extreme Precision, and Thrilling Looks Merge in Technics and Lamborghini Collaboration: SL-1200M7B Direct-Drive Turntable Is Ready to Be Revved to the Limits
The similarities between Technics and Lamborghini, globally iconic brands that collaborated on the sizzling SL-1200M7B direct-drive turntable, are more obvious than you think. Both companies are pioneers in their respective fields. Both design products that provide head-turning thrills and become celebrated collector’s items. Both inspire users with unforgettable sounds. And both demand elevated levels of drive, power, and engineering — and high-tech engines that operate with extreme precision and can start or stop on a dime even under demanding circumstances. All those facets, and more, come together in SL-1200M7B, a special-edition model based on Technics’ celebrated SL-1200MK7 deck.
Influenced by the automobile maker’s distinctive Y-shape, and available in three vibrant Lamborghini colors — Arancio Apodis (orange), Verde Shock (green), and Giallo Athon (yellow) — SL-1200M7B furthers the connection between great sonics and thrilling performance by coming with an exclusive vinyl LP containing the trademark sounds of five flagship V12 Lamborghini cars. The picture-disc LP features the image of a tire from a Lamborghini Revuelto, so as the record spins, so does the picture of the tire. In addition, SL-1200M7B is sold with a slip mat displaying the Lamborghini logo as well as two branded stickers.
Bestowed with a starting torque/brake speed-adjustment functionality that can be adjusted on four individual levels, SL-1200M7B arrives built to deliver audiophile-grade fidelity from your vinyl collection. Practically begging to be revved at 33 and 45RPM for as long and late as you wish, this ’table is a thrill to operate and includes pitch control, reverse play (for DJ fun), and a stylus illuminator complete with a bright LED so you can see what you’re doing when the lights are dim. Mechanically, SL-1200M7B is housed in an extremely rigid cabinet given extra damping and insulation to tune out all unwanted vibrations. Its two-layer aluminum-diecast platter and robust, universal static-balanced nine-inch tonearm ensure stellar information retrieval and excellent tracking.
Given Lamborghini is nothing without its standard-setting torque, it’s no surprise that the heart of SL-1200M7B is a high-torque coreless direct-drive motor that plays with incredible stability and eliminates any concerns about cogging. Equipped with a coreless stator and featuring highest-possible magnetic force from the rotor magnets, SL-1200M7B boasts silky smooth rotation to help reproduce sound from your vinyl with engrossing accuracy and faithfulness. Gold-plated phono terminals, a 45RPM adapter, headshell, phono cable, and a two-year manufacturer warranty add to the spoils.
Rest assured this 21.2-pound 'table looks even better in person, and wait 'til you hear it in action.
Torque/Brake Speed Adjustment
The newest digital motor control technology, accumulated through the development of Blu-ray disc products, is applied to improve adjustment by allowing the torque and brake speed to be adjusted individually in four steps.
The Pitch Control Function
The pitch control function allows fine adjustment of the rotation speed within ±8 % / ±16 %. It does this through digital control, from positional detection of the slider to rotational control of the motor, eliminating the unnecessary DA conversion. This greatly improves tracking performance to achieve accurate and stable pitch adjustment.
Reverse Play Function
The reverse play function, which brings new possibilities of creative performance, makes its first appearance in the SL-1200 Series. In addition to 33-1/3RPM and 45RPM, 78RPM is supported.
