Pure North American Maple Shell Construction

At the core of the DWe bass drum is a pure North American hard rock maple shell, built to DW’s exacting standards for optimal resonance and sustain. Constructed from 100-percent maple plies and featuring DW’s patented VLT (Vertical Low Timbre) shell orientation, the drum produces the balanced punch, open tone, and enhanced low-end response that define the DW sound. Each shell is crafted in California using hand-selected wood and meticulous attention to detail, delivering the legendary quality drummers expect from a DW acoustic bass drum.

Proprietary Wireless Trigger Technology

The DWe bass drum incorporates proprietary wireless triggers seamlessly integrated into the shell for cable-free performance. These triggers accurately capture playing nuance with a wide dynamic range, delivering a natural and expressive electronic response. With no external pads or cables required, drummers are free to move and perform without restriction.

The triggers connect wirelessly to the DrumLink hub, which converts signals into MIDI data and interfaces with the included DW Soundworks software on your computer. The system supports up to 30 instruments simultaneously, offering flexible configuration options and smooth integration into expanded electronic or hybrid setups.

Convertible Design With Mylar and Mesh Heads

As part of the world’s first acoustic–electronic convertible drum system, the DWe bass drum ships with both Mylar and mesh heads for fast, effortless switching between modes. The transparent Mylar head delivers a natural acoustic sound for live performance, while the removable mesh head reduces volume for quiet practice or electronic triggering. Drummers can transition from a traditional acoustic kit to an all-electronic setup simply by changing the head and installing the trigger.
